In October 1998, I found my left leg a little swollen. At that time, I was to take part in a sports meet in Wu Ji Zhi Na on behalf of my school. I often practiced playing ball and I ran the 100-meter hurdles. Naturally, I thought that I sprained my leg and the pain was only sports related. However, as the meet was approaching, my left leg was becoming more and more swollen. It seemed that there was no way that I could compete on behalf of my school. When I told my parents what had happened, my father discounted it and my mother also attributed it to sprain.
Two to three days later, my mother got me a massage therapist to help me, but it did not work at all. Later on, my mother took me to a private clinic and the doctor there only gave me some antibiotics to reduce the swelling. Since that still didn’t work, my mother ended up taking me to the Malacca Central Hospital for X-rays. As it turned out, the doctor diagnosed me with bone cancer and advised that the cancer had deteriorated. I was instructed that I had to be hospitalized immediately. However, the hospital in Malacca does not have the equipment to diagnose and treat cancer; I was transferred to Kuala Lumpur Ma Da Medical Center.
There the doctor carried out CT scan and test on me to confirm my cancer. After all examinations were done, the diagnosis was bone cancer. According to the result of the examinations, the doctor decided to carry out chemical treatment first, followed by an operation. The chemical treatment lasted six courses, three before the operation and another three after it.
I was losing a lot of hair, from on top of my head, to my eyebrows and eyelashes. All of my hair was falling. Long exposures to sunshine made my eyes very uncomfortable. I had to wear sunglasses for protection. I believe that I was made to go through all of these sufferings eventually will lead me to recovery. Maybe this is how God works.
I was again in the operating room on December 31, 1998. This time, my parents, brother and sister were all there to support me as I was to undergo an operation my left leg. I was extremely afraid and even felt like running away from it all, but I was again in the operating room on December 31, 1998 I saw my parents and siblings sit by the bedside, but I was still somewhat hazy and drugged up. I did not sense anything wrong with me. Not until three days later that I discovered my left leg had been cut off. I cried and shouted like a madman. ‘How could I ever face another for I am crippled now. I wept like a baby that whole night and on the fourth day; I began to understand that there was nothing that I could do but to accept it as a fact. I was determined to face reality and learn to walk again with the help of crutches.
On March 15, 1999, after my CT scan, the doctor said that they found two small tumors in my left lung and one in the right. I was diagnosed with lung cancer this time. The cancer cells metastasized and found another part of me to damage. I was both disgusted and frightened. This time, I knew that I had to control my feelings. The doctor urged for another operation and advised my parents that it can be of high risk. They also informed my parent that without the operation, the chances of my survival would be very slight. The cancer cells in my body were very active and they had spread too quickly. The operation for the left and right lungs should be done within a week. My parents left it up to me; I was to make the decision myself. Considering my current and future health, I agreed with the doctor and an operation was scheduled.
On week later, on April 14, 1999, I was back in the operation room again. However, due to my weakened physique and constant coughing, the doctor thought it was not the time for an operation. The multiple operations took place in between April 21 to April 28. Seven small tumors were removed from my left lung and nine from my right lung. These tumors were tiny and were too small to be measured. Chemotherapy followed and I returned to hospital for blood test after the therapy was finished.
In December of 1999, the doctor suspected that the cancer cells might have spread to heart and prepped me to undergo an ultrasound. I was put in hospital ward with a roommate in my room. She was a girl who suffered from hematoma. One day, the girl’s uncle was visiting her and talked with my mother. He introduced an effective traditional Chinese anticancer medicine to us. He was to bring the address of the agency who marketed this herbal elixir to us the next time be came to see his niece.” The next day, that Chinese uncle brought the information which he promised but he seemed a little hesitant about its price. That afternoon, my mother asked for my release from the hospital and then she went to see the agency of the medicine directly and asked about the detailed information. At home my disease got worse, so I had to be send back to hospital again. The effort to save money to buy the Chinese medicine was stopped.
Finally, in December, mother bought Tien Hsien Liquid and Tien Hsien capsule # 5. After I took the medicine for four months, I went to hospital for another examination. The doctor said that the tumors in my lung were not active, nor did they grow. However it should be proved by X-rays. In June, 2000, I was again called to have another X-ray check (the second time in the same day), for the doctor said he could not believe the result of the first one. So he showed the second photographic plate to a professor. The professor thought that it couldn’t be said that the tumors in my body were completely eliminated, but the doctor argued that my lung appeared clear the X-ray photo. So when the X-ray analyst got the photographic plate, he couldn’t believe the report either and had resort to prof. Peads Klinik, who agreed with the doctor. In order to confirm it, in July, I had another X-ray check. The result proved what the doctor said as unbelievable and the professor described as very special. The good news brought some laughter to my family and I also hoped that it was true.
Up until now, I have taken Tien Hsien Liquid and Tien Hsien capsule for five months. I can go to school with the help of crutch, my weight rises to 43kg and I have done a good job of study. Although I did not go to school for a year, I still passed UPSR examination. Here I’d like to express sincere gratitude to Tien Hsien Liquid and Tien Hsien capsule # 5 which gave me the confidence and happiness to live on.
May Tien Hsien Liquid and Tien Hsien capsule # 5 bring me a bright future forever!
